GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- East Carolina has suspended nose tackle Terry Williams indefinitely from the football team following his arrest on drug charges. Coach Ruffin McNeill made the announcement Thursday.
It came one day after the school says McNeill and athletic department officials were made aware of the player's arrest. Police in Simpson arrested Williams on Wednesday night on charges of possession of marijuana and intent to sell.
McNeill says he suspended Williams "as a result of a poor decision and conduct that is certainly not in line with the standards we have in place at East Carolina.''
Williams was listed as the top backup at nose tackle. He had 31 tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2011.
