RALEIGH--The State Department of Insurance educated the public on the dangers of leaving children in hot cars on Saturday.
A large digital thermometer showed the temperatures inside and outside of a car to show how quickly temperatures can climb.
Organizers used s'mores on the dashboard to demonstrate just how hot the inside of a car can get.
Nearly 40 children die in the U.S. every year from heat exposure after being left in cars. If you do see a child or even an animal left in a car, please call 911.
