RALEIGH--Weather fanatics had a chance to learn more about meteorology and safety during Saturday's 3rd Annual Stormfest, held in Raleigh.

News 14 Carolina meteorologists Lee Ringer, Pati Darak, Joshua McKinney and chief meteorologist Gary Stephenson were on hand to share their expertise.

Visitors participated in various weather demonstrations and were able to ask their favorite weathercasters questions. Meteorologists say educating the public is the top priority.

"We all think that it's a very good thing to educate people when it comes storms and storm safety. That way we educate these people, they take it out, they use that knowledge the next time we have a severe weather event,"said News 14 Carolina Chief Meteorologist, Gary Stephenson.

Other participating groups included: the National Weather Service, Salvation Army, and the N.C. Climate Office.
