Fort Bragg commanding general retires

FORT BRAGG -- The commanding general of the 18th Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg retired Tuesday. Lt. Gen. Frank Helmick relinquished command in a ceremony on Fort Bragg Tuesday morning.


He took command of the 18th Airborne Corps in 2009 and served as deputy commanding general for operations in Iraq in 2011.
