RALEIGH—Troy Smith and Abe Lawson held their post for nearly eighteen hours as the rain fell and the line continued to grow outside the Krispy Kreme in downtown Raleigh, all for the chance to win a dozen doughnuts, once a week for a year.

But Smith won't be eating a single one of his share of the loot as they are all going to a good cause. News14.com's Joshua Kleinstreuer sat down for an interview with the pair to find out their strategy for making it through the night and how Smith, the self-proclaimed “doughnut-expert”, is not a stranger when it comes to Krispy Kreme-oriented events.
