WILMINGTON — The ninth named Tropical Storm of the season is making its way west.
Irene took shape in the Atlantic Ocean Saturday. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and is heading into the Caribbean Sea.
Meteorologists predict it could become a hurricane by Tuesday.
