GREENSBORO – The ACC Men's Basketball Tournament gets underway Thursday in Greensboro. Boston College and Georgia Tech tip off at noon.

Duke and North Carolina both have first-round byes, but North Carolina State and Wake Forest will take the floor on opening night. The fifth-seeded Wolfpack take on Virginia Tech at 2 p.m., and the Deacons, seeded 10th, battle Maryland at 7 p.m.

While the players are who everyone comes to see, there's another group pivotal to putting on the tournament – the volunteers. Throughout the tournament, the Greensboro Sports Commission will use up to 700 volunteers.

β€œIt's a massive undertaking, but that's the one thing great about this community. This community gets it and when we talk about tournament town, it's a well recognized moniker. People understand it and they value the opportunity to share Greensboro with others,” said Kim Strable, of the Greensboro Sports Commission.

The tournament wraps up Sunday when an ACC champion is crowned.
