COLUMBUS COUNTY -- An airman stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base faces charges in the death of his 15-month-old child.

Senior Airman Matthew Theurer is charged with voluntary manslaughter, negligent homicide and murder.

The body was found Tuesday along Highway 905 in Columbus County. Sources told the Goldsboro News Argus that Theurer may have left the child there several weeks ago.

The 4th Fighter Wing Affairs Office is now handling the investigation. Theurer is being held in Sampson County.
