GREENSBORO — Shoppers looking for a deal packed the Triad-area Goodwill stores Thursday. Every article of clothing in the store was just $1.

Organizers say the big crowds are a sign of just how many people need the bargain prices. The cash registers have been ringing steadily since the doors opened Thursday morning.

“What woman does not love a good sale These things would normally be, one shirt would be $15-$20 retail and when you can find it for a dollar it's just fabulous,” said shopper Janice Carroll.

The sale of the clothing prices are helping Janice Carroll's small business.

“I had to do this because everything was a dollar. So this was my chance to stack up fabrics that I needed for my business,” said Carroll.

“We were expecting a pretty big crowd, I'm not sure you could ever anticipate this type of a crowd,” said Goodwill Industries spokesperson Chris Gorham.

It has been more than five years since Goodwill of the Triad has had a 'Dollar Day' and they say it is just another way they are giving back to the community.

“Goodwill Industries is so blessed to be the recipients of so many donations. Our CEO said, 'Look we've got to give back.' And in this economic climate we couldn't think of any better way than to provide a 'Dollar Day' at every single one of our Triad retail locations,” said Gorham.

Goodwill representatives said they expect the sale prices to empty out their stock. They hope the community will help them replenish the racks by donating.
