HIGH POINT--The Guilford County School Board thinks the district is on the right track.
Saturday, the board met for its annual fall retreat to discuss a range of topics affecting its schools.
That included the strategic plan that will start in January.
Members said they wanted to simply improve upon the current plan, which is focused on excellence in academics and character development for the students.
"We certainly want to get more traction on reading and literacy and writing. It was lifted up as an issue that we wanted to have a focus on. Also the board talked a lot about the need to just promote the good things that are going on in public schools," said Nora Carr, Chief of Staff of Guilford County Schools.
Another part of the plan is to operate more efficiently and come up with ways to stretch the budget.
