WILSON β€” An arrest has been made after police confirmed the body found in a Wilson creek is that of a missing woman.

Authorities say Courtney Speight, 23, was found dead Wednesday morning in Contentenea Creek near Willow Springs Drive. Now police say her supposed ex-boyfriend, Donald Davis, 45, is in jail charged with first-degree murder.

News 14 Carolina spoke to Speight's cousin Stephanie over the phone. She said when she heard Speight disappeared, she had a gut feeling Davis was responsible.

β€œIt's like a burden that's been lifted on my soul. I just feel like we have justice, like she has justice,” said Stephanie Speight.

Speight was last seen on Saturday and reported missing a day later after she did not show up for work. Wilson Police found Speight's car on Thursday. The exact cause of death is not known, pending autopsy results.
