WILMINGTON--A baseball field at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Wilmington turned into a football practice Saturday morning as New Hanover High School graduate and current Buffalo Bills Defensive Tackle held his third annual football camp.

"I started this because I feel like this town need something like this," said Ross. "I'm real big into working with the kids because I feel they're our future."

C. J. Wilson, a defensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers and Terrance Copper, a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, assisted Ross with the camp.

"I feel privileged and honored to be able to come here and help out Jay," explained Ross.

During the camp, the kids participated in a variety of drills designed to help them pick up offensive and defensive skills they can use during their youth games. For the third year in the row, the former ECU Pirate is offering camp free of charge to kids ages 5-18.

"A lot of times, a lot of kids in the area are limited because some of their families can't afford to pay, so I wanted to do this for free," remarked Ross.

In addition to teaching the kids the basic skills associated with football, Ross also aims to be a role model for the kids at the camp.

"I'm telling them to be positive, to listen to their teachers and to do good in school."

Almost 100 kids attended the three-hour camp.
