WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is pushing the extension of middle class tax cuts. The President said the cuts are part of the American recovery.

Republicans countered saying they too want to extend the tax cuts, but to all Americans. Tim Mullaney runs the family business in Charlotte; Consolidated Press was founded by his father in 1967.

"We've managed to grow from the garage that was maybe 1,500 sq. ft. into this 10,000 ft. facility," said Mullaney during an Obama for North Carolina news conference.

Mullaney said the small business tax cuts, which started during the President Bush-era, are helping to strengthen the economy. Mullaney has doubled his number of employees in the last three years and spent nearly $500,000 on new equipment.

Mullaney supports President Barack Obama's plan to extend these tax cuts, which cover 97 percent of all small business owners.

"The initiative that the president has instituted over the last three and a half years have worked for small business owners. They're not recycling ideas, he's investing in the future," said Democratic Senator from Mecklenburg County Malcolm Graham.

"It's clearly political theater. It's clearly an attempt on the president to create a wedge issue, divide Americans in order to secure his reelection," said NC Communications Director for Mitt Romney Robert Reid.

Reid says Republicans want all tax cuts extended, not just a part of them. The middle class tax cuts. or President George W. Bush's era tax cuts, are set to expire December 31.
