KERNERSVILLE — City leaders in Kernersville are putting the finishing touches on a large parking project to expand parking resources.

The project is part of a larger plan to revitalize the city's downtown area. City planners hope to attract new businesses by maximizing already existing parking as an incentive.

"Right now we have virtually no vacancy downtown, and so we know that if we can continue to develop public parking areas, we can attract new development and new businesses,” said community development director Jeff Hatling.

Kernersville residents and business owners who are interested in giving their input to city leaders on the new parking plan are encouraged to call the community development office at (336) 992-0605 or visit their website.
