GREENSBORO — Animal rights activists in North Carolina are making history this week, as they form the state's first-ever political action committee for animal welfare.

The group hopes to make its voice heard in our state's capital, creating tougher laws to protect pets, and financially backing legislators who work to prevent animal cruelty.

"It's time for animal advocates to step up and demand that legislators pass legislation for the responsible care of animals in North Carolina," said vice president of NC Voters for Animal Welfare Roberta Wall.

Several members of the new PAC were instrumental in helping get Susie's Law passed, which makes cruelty to animals a felony.
