CHARLOTTE--Five Charlotte area dads were honored Friday night at the Westin Hotel in uptown. The event was part of Charlotte's Father of the Year Gala.

The men were selected by the National Fathers' Day Council.

"They're great dads number one, they're great community leaders and they are recommended by past fathers of the year or they are recommended on the spot...either way they lead their communities," said Father of Year Event co-chair, Chris Little.

The gala also benefited the American Diabetes Association.
