NASCAR, military announce special partnership

Daytona Beach, Fla. — NASCAR and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command are teaming up on a historic partnership.

Saturday, both organizations announced a strategic partnership to make military vehicles safer for soldiers. Governor Bev Perdue along with Lt. Gen. John Mulholland and NASCAR president Mike Helton announced the collaboration at the Daytona International Speedway

Gov. Perdue said the partnership will not only help troops, it will also help to create jobs and investment opportunities in our state.

'This is a major win-win partnership from perspective as governor of North Carolina and I believe for NASCAR and the Military and Special Ops because what we're about is improving the safety and the performance of military vehicles for our troops all over the world while we create new jobs and investment opportunities,'' said Gov. Perdue.

Gov. Perdue said she and her administration have made building the partnership between NASCAR and the military a top priority .
