GREENSBORO — More than 200 low-income residents are in safer homes in Greensboro thanks to hundreds of volunteers and donations from the community.

Housing Greensboro held a celebration Thursday beginning repairs on its 250th home. The organization is now embarking on a new mission and they are asking for the help of the community. They are calling the initiative Paint the Town.

"Paint the town will be a one day event," said Housing Greensboro president Gene Brown. "We're seeking businesses and organizations in the community that would like to adopt a homeowner here in the Ole L. Richardson neighborhood. We're going to try and paint the town and spruce up some of the homes here."
