CHARLOTTE -- Monday's release of Carolina Panthers fullback Brad Hoover was just the latest in a rash of player cuts.
On Friday, the team released quarterback Jake Delhomme along with five other veterans, leaving only three players on the roster that are 30 years of age or older.
The moves have some fans wondering what direction the team is heading.
"Just talking with my friends, it's a little frustrating to see what's going on," said season ticket holder Greg Luehrs. "The schedule is coming out pretty soon and as soon as the schedule comes out they send you the lovely bill."
Luehrs purchased his personal seat license with two friends in 2002, and while they'll likely renew their PSLs, the Panthers player moves have them questioning whether season tickets are worth the money.
The final decision, though, will likely be based on economics.
"We do have an investment with our PSLs that we don't want to lose," said Luehrs. "And right now with the kind of atmosphere around the city, nobody's going to pay us fair value for our PSLs."
The Panthers Web site lists more than 25,000 PSL owners who have purchased more than 63,000 PSLs. It adds up to a lot of money spent by fans who just want to see management commit to returning to the Super Bowl.
"We definitely would like to hear something," Luehrs said. "It just gives us piece of mind. You know, our investment that we have is so small to what these guys are making out on the field but it just helps us as a fanbase to get up on that Sunday morning, go tailgating, go 'all right, let's go have a good day.'"
The Panthers said invoices for renewing PSLs will be sent out by the end of the week and the deadline to renew ranges from mid-April to the end of April.
