North Carolina is a major battleground state for the 2012 presidential candidates.

Only nine states in the country are getting major advertising dollars from the Obama and Romney camps, and North Carolina is one of them.

The other states are Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida.

The Associated Press says the rest of the country is virtually ad free.
