GREENSBORO -- Hundreds of families who use EBT cards in Guilford County are relying on the help of Greensboro's Urban Ministry for food. But a computer glitch in the Department of Social Services' new software program on May 17 caused many families to not receive their benefits for nearly a month. As a result, Urban Ministry is seeing a record number of emergency food requests.

Leaders hope folks like you will step up to help those in need.

"At their church, business, or civic club-- if they'd like to do a food drive for us or another food bank in the area, it would be greatly appreciated,” said Urban Ministry Director Rev. Mike Aiken.

"When you actually need the help, it's not there,” said EBT recipient Debra Smith.

News 14 Carolina tried multiple times to contact the Department of Social Services but none of our calls were returned.
