GREENSBORO — A ban to keep concealed weapons away from some Greensboro parks is moving forward.

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Commission passed the ban Wednesday. Their recommendation now heads to City Council.

"I think the less guns we have around recreational facilities; whether they be parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, the safer its is," said Matt Lojko of the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Commission.

The General Assembly passed a law last year allowing people with concealed carry permits to have their guns in parks. However the law still allows cities to ban guns at parks with playgrounds and athletic fields.
