GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Some Guilford County school buses will run on biodiesel this spring.

Guilford County plans to test the product on about 50 buses. Officials will monitor vehicle maintenance and costs to learn more about how biodiesel could be used on a large scale. Other school districts have reported concerns about mechanical wear and additional costs.

Guilford County Schools currently spends about $4 million annually on diesel.
