WINSTON-SALEM — A Christmas tradition of giving that spans more than 100 years continues again this holiday season.
In about a week, people will start seeing Salvation Army kettles and bell ringers, asking for donations for a good cause. On Thursday, volunteers spruced up hundreds of kettles for this year's campaign, which is critical to the organization's Christmas assistance program.
"We are helping 200 more families then we had last year, which gives us 600-700 more children to help as well,” said commander for the Winston-Salem Salvation Army Maj. Kent Davis.
People will start seeing the red kettles beginning Nov.18 and leaders say no donation is too small. For more information on volunteering at your local Red Fettle campaign, visit The Salvation Army website
