FORT BRAGG — Heisman trophy winner and former NFL star Herschel Walker visited troops on Fort Bragg Friday.

Walker shared with the soldiers his own personal struggles with mental illness. He said these young people have to be appreciated, they are the future and are fighting for our freedom.

"Our young people are saving this world, if people ever go overseas, go to Afghanistan, Iraq, I have been there a couple of times, you see that a lot of young people are the ones giving you your freedom," said Walker.

The title and theme for Friday's event was: There is no shame in asking for help, I did.
