FAYETTEVILLE-–A man is dead after being hit by a car on Cedar Creek Road near Fields Road in Fayetteville.

It happened just after 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say 43-year-old Dwight Fredricks was dead when they arrived.

Investigators believe Fredricks was on his morning walk when he was struck by the vehicle, which left the scene.

They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the hit and run to call Crimestoppers at (910) 433-tips.
