GOLDSBORO, N.C. -- Wayne Memorial Hospital's new emergency department is up and running smoothly, officials said.

The department officially opened Wednesday and hospital representatives say patients seem pleased with the layout.

It provides more privacy for patients and larger rooms, and a brighter atmosphere.

Since the last department was much smaller, officials say the staff is thankful to be working in an improved environment.
