WILMINGTON -- A Wilmington man is behind bars accused of biting a police dog. Authorities say 22-year-old Travis Glaspie bit the dog on Sunday while eluding arrest for warrants on a recent shooting.

The dog, whose name is Maxx, received stitches and is expected to be OK. Glaspie was bitten during the incident and was treated at the hospital.

He faces several charges including assault on a law enforcement animal.
