CHARLOTTE--Thousands of people will be flocking to Charlotte to take part in the first round of American Idol auditions.
The show is gearing up for it's 12th season and people from all over the east coast are lining up to take part.
Organizers are expecting about 15,000 people for the Charlotte auditions.
People started showing up around midnight on Sunday to line up, and were turned away until late Sunday morning.
Sunday is just registration, but that's not stopping the hopefuls from singing and cheering as they get ready for the experience.
On Tuesday, North Carolina native Scotty McCreery and Ryan Seacrest will open up the Charlotte audition. Hopefuls will then begin the first of several rounds of auditions.
Singing auditions will be on Tuesday, and the idol hopefuls will be lining up around Time Warner Cable Arena around 5:00 a.m.
With the estimated 15,000 people auditioning, delays are expected for the morning commute in the Time Warner Cable Arena area, particularly Fifth Street and Caldwell Streets.
