The Democratic National Convention Committee announced the hotel assignments for the roughly 6,000 delegates who will descend on Charlotte in September. Triad police to help Charlotte at DNC

Law enforcement agencies from around the state will assist Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police during the Democratic National Convention in September. Greensboro's assistant police chief said CMPD inquired to law enforcement agencies in the state with more than 100 officers, asking them whether they could help out. Greensboro will provide about 150 officers.

Congress approves security grant for Democratic National Convention

Thursday, a long awaited federal security grant for next year's Democratic National Convention was passed by both houses of Congress. The $50 million grant to the City of Charlotte will provide funding for security and the cover the costs for hundreds of additional police officers who'll be staffed in the Queen City for the convention.
