TAMPA -- Republican officials are expected to announce Tuesday that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will deliver the keynote speech at the Republican National Convention later this month in Florida.

The prime speaking slot will give him some more national exposure that could help clear the way for a later presidential run. The convention begins on Aug. 27.
