CARY, N.C. -- A benefit concert was held Sunday in hopes to raise money for a bluegrass musician in Wake County. Jan Johannson, 51, has been awaiting a heart transplant for months.
His friends have been holding concerts like the one in Cary's Bond Park on Sunday over the past two years to help provide financial relief to his family. If he gets the transplant, medical bills could top $75,000.
Until Johannson gets the transplant, he has a device that helps pump blood through his body and it allows him to be at home while he waits for a new heart.
