GREENSBORO – Triad Marines are working to collect tens of thousands of toys for area children. Friday, staffers at Ward Black Law and Lembeth-Troxler Funeral Home joined forces to help with the campaign.
Workers set up shop along Wendover Avenue to collect donated items.
“It's great to share the wealth that each of us has for somebody who doesn't have quite as much,” Janet Ward Black said.
Staff Sgt. James Green says the group is about 50 percent behind their goal.
“We were pretty much ready to send out orders by this time last year,” he said. “Right now, we're at about 50 percent. We have enough to do about 45 percent of the orders we already have and the orders are still coming in.”
Toys for Tots ends Dec. 18. Marines say they desperately need toys for kids between 8 and 12. They hope to collect at least 100,000 toys for about 40,000 kids in the Triad area.
