The president emeritus of the University of North Carolina system is in the hospital in critical condition. William Friday is at UNC Hospital, but there are no other details on his condition. Friday retired in 1986 after serving three decades as president of the UNC system.

Police asks for public's help to solve string of Triad-area Harris Teeter robberies

Three Triad-area police departments are pooling their efforts to try and solve a string of recent robberies at seven Harris Teeter stores. Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem police say four have happened in the past month, two in the last week, all between 3 and 7 a.m.
